Self-Care Challenge: January 2019

If you’re active on social media, we’re sure you’ve seen people talking about self-care. Influencers everywhere are posting photos of themselves traveling or at the spa with the hashtag #selfcare. It’s super trendy. But what does self-care even mean?

For us, self-care is all about taking time out of your day to focus on things that contribute to your happiness and wellbeing. It’s not something you do one time and considers it a done deal, it’s the continuous effort to make sure your needs are taken care of. You do not need a huge, international vacation to practice self-care. The simplest things like walking your dog could be considered self-care.

We’re making self-care a priority in 2019 and want you to join us on our journey.

We’ve compiled a list of 31 activities (in no particular order) you can do in January that will jumpstart 2019 and set you up to have an amazing year.

This is an on-going series we plan to regularly post about on our blog and on our Instagram. Make sure to check back every month to get your updated list and let us know how your journey is going.

  2. Start Journaling
  3. Clean out & organize your closet
  4. Wake up 20 minutes earlier
  5. Make your bed every morning
  6. Drink fruit infused water
  7. Make a happiness list
  8. Go for a daily walk
  9. Try yoga
  10.  Apply sunscreen every day
  11.  Clean out your skincare collection
  12.  Strike a power pose
  13.  Read a book, magazine or your favorite blog
  14.  Compliment yourself
  15.  Subscribe to a podcast
  16.  Try a new recipe
  17.  Watch a TED Talk
  18.  Set an intention for your day, every day
  19.  Enjoy a sunset
  20.  Visit a local market
  21.  Skip the coffee, drink tea
  22.  Spend time outdoors
  23.  Meditate 5-10 minutes daily
  24.  Unplug at a decent hour
  25.  Compliment 3 people
  26.  Take yourself out on a date
  27.  Volunteer
  28.  Try a new restaurant
  29.  Focus on breathing
  30.  Have a dance party
  31. Use a face mask

  13. Try Meatless Mondays.
  14. Switch to satin sheets to help maintain skin & hair’s natural moisture level.
  15. Trim your hair every 4-6 weeks.
  16. Swap out coffee for green tea.
  17. Visit a dermatologist.
  18. Track your new healthy habit progress by keeping a journal!

These 18 habits may seem minor in the grand scheme of life, but when added together can result in a healthier YOU.
