Tampa, Fla, October 2015 — It is with our deepest regrets to announce the recent passing of Joe Liszka, one of the founders of Key West Aloe.
Liszka first came to Key West with his life and business partner Frank Romano in the late 1960s. After discovering the healing properties of Aloe Vera and falling in love with the island lifestyle, the pair moved to Key West in 1970 and together founded Key West Aloe. In addition to starting a business, Liszka and Romano created the first Fantasy Fest in 1979 and later supported efforts to make Key West an international destination by levying a tourism tax.
